Dr Saleem H. Ali, Associate Professor of Environmental Policy and Planning and Associate Dean for Graduate Education (2007-2008), Rubenstein School

of Environment and Natural Resources, University of Vermont has released the following information.

Under a grant from the Tiffany & Co. Foundation, his team just finished a project in Fiji which focuses on issues of risk perception,
closure and community livelihoods around gold mining. They have  attempted to provide a balanced perspective on these sensitive issues  in a country with multiple ethnic populations and a confluence of
service sector and primary industry economies.

The project involved a detailed risk perception survey of gold mining
communities and, an ethnographic study as well as a documentary film
(co-directed by film-maker Kristian Maynard).

All the information from this project (as well as the video) is available free for educational purposes at the following web site: <
